alternator failure and info
[QUOTE=S2oooNvegas,Jul 6 2005, 01:15 AM] agreed on most of what you said.
2 things. i had no *tone* not once. wis has a problem with me, and it has been apparent lately, so i keep a watchful eye. if he tones it down, things will be just fine. im ok over here.
and 2, yes you do need a 2.5 k machine. no static in the radio of either car, NONE. and i was never asking for help, im offering help to others. very few here have the tech experience i have, or the years behind a wrench. this is apparent by the multitude of misinformation here. i try and help when i can, in an honest way.
the cars were taken to both honda dealers,

I've never seen a Alternator with a clutched drive. Probably never will either. An alternator doesn't put a heavy mechanical load on the engine unlike pump or AC compressor. It's spinning a rotor though a magnetic field, not compressing refrigerant or moving coolant.
The Alternator's output voltage is controlled by the PCM, based on how much current is being used, via the ELD unit.

I believe this is the kind of "tone" crazyphud was referring to.
to be honest and open, you are coming off with a superior view of yourself. people are not going to take kindly to you belittling this forum and its members with a "i know more than pretty much everyone here, and hardly anyone has as many years behind the wrench as i do. this is apparent by the multitude of misinformation here."
you're insulting to many many people here who have years and years and years of "wrenching" experience, along with people who are ASE master technicians, and have plenty of experience working on hondas and S2000's. there are also engineers, tribologists, electrical engineers, etc. you're blanketing a pretty wide group and insulting a "multitude" of people with your words.
edit: i'm going to leave this thread open because there is still technical merit to it, and other people may want to discuss the ideas here on the alternator.

thats why i said the word FEW. and its true, there are very few people on here, who have alot of knowledge. thats not slamming the forum, and all of its members. not even close.
so if anyone takes offense, in the light of being just, i will say sorry now, i was making a statment to my defense. (if you havent noticed people give zero credit these days).
and i have PMed half of the people you speak of, so dont think that i have lack of respect for them, hell i PMd slow earlier in the week.
ok, here we go. the finale... *holds out hand* wis, we shake on no more arguing..truce in any venue except,, we can still debate in SE,,,, cause my s2k is faster than yours

hehe. have fun all, and thanks again wis for reopening my post. it was only intened for info, never for us to argue. sorry kiddies.

as you can see, wis, the intelligent people,,, one of them, being slows2k, wont take offense to my statement. because we know who we are.
i tried to avoid bringing the crap from SE into here, but every post here you've done it, and I'm sick of it. I was nice to you here, and tried to explain to you why crazy Phud said you need to tone it down a bit. instead you just continue to slyly insult me with phrases such as "intelligent people won't take offense".
leave the personal attacks and backwards insult statement for another forum. they have no place here. just because you follow up insults with "no more arguing here wis, truce" and "thanks for reopening my thread wis" doesn't mean it was ok for you to insult me in the first place.

Nvegas, at times one needs to humble himself...grasshopper. we can all agree you are very experienced and knowledgeable as are MANY people on this board. we all appreciate people willing to help, but even when someone IS more knowledgeable than someone else in a certain area, it does'nt always work best to come at it from that angle. Nobody likes the "I am better/smarter than you" attitude, even if it's unintentionaly conveyed.(as it appears it might be) we are all looking to learn, but people want to say for themselves "hey, that guy is realy smart", not be told by said person. it is better to lead by humble example. please don't take offense by this, I am just expressing my own personal views. thank-you for your honest efforts to further educate on the alternator issue,
I know i have learned alot already from EVERYONES posts one this thread, and will sure watch for "flickering-display" peace-out
