I have the Toda header, and I am very happy with it...I gained 10hp in the midrange with no loss in peak HP....
The bracket is fine, however it did require a little common sense at install....The bracket ends up with about a 1/2 inch of space between it and the bracket on the engine..
All you have to do is pick up a new bolt with some washers to fill the gap and it will not put extra stress on the bracket.
If you use the oem bolt ad tighten it to manipulate the bracket it will brake...this is a problem that Toda should address...either repossitioning the bracket on future productions or including the nesessary spacers..

anyway after you get past the bracket issue, the Toda header is great.....

That's good to know, and I'm sure the Toda header does work to deliver hp gains... my point is this...

A 1200 dollar header should come with what you need, it shouldn't require someone to go to Home Depot to fetch some new hardware. That in itself is an indirect admission that they either didn't supply the correct parts to prevent breakage, they supplied insufficient information, they supplied the wrong information... in any of these cases, the manufacturer can't hold the customer at fault for failing in any of these areas. Having to do the MacGyver thing by using different hardware is what I'd expect in a low-end, inexpensive no-name part made in some 3rd world country... at least that's my opinion on that subject.

I'm not doubting the hp gains at all, however Slow's experience with this situation has soured my intension of purchasing one (which was in the works).

Well you don't really need the bracket. It's nice to have but you can go without, at least I have. I didn't find there was anything wrong with the bracket placement. The flatbar brace can be easily massaged to fit without stressing it.

I'm not sure when mine broke but I installed it in December. Naturally aspirated engine with stock internals. It's a defective design and I agree it shouldn't break but oh well.

What do you guys think about RS*R header. They brought over a shipment so far. And the header was dynoed at UL's place. And he seemed to like the design from what I was told. But the guys from Japan don't think there's a big enough market for the header for s2000. I mean a header that is full SS. And can for in the ball park of $716 and also make good mid range torque with a few extra high end power. If there's a good demand, maybe I can work something out with RS*R and for them to give the US market another try. Since the Toda have issues with warranty their products and not everyone is up to paying for Mugen and Toda prices.

Evo,

Did you ever find out why the design was changed before the product was released?
Is the header indeed a true 4-2-1 design?

Apparently RS*R made two version of these headers. And the ones in the picture were one design. And when we received the shipment. We got a new design. (with out any heads up from RS*R) But all 3 owners of the new design will receive a FREE header from RS*R of the original design that was advertised in the picture when they first made the purchase.

If the headers are in demand. We will receive the original design again.
