Default Another i'm smoking help thread

i did search already

I have a 02 with 73k miles and i bought it from some older people in july of 07 with 19k miles on it in mint condition. i don't drive it hard and i rarly ever hit redline and i don't hit vtec that often. i baby it. I installed a used greddy kit in january and the last month or so every once in a while (its done it 3 times) i can go drive it and when i stop and let it cool down to get gas when i start the car again it plumes white smoke out until i get on the road and then it stops. it doesn't do it often and the turbo has 8k+ miles on it so i'm wondering if the turbo seals are going out or if its valve stem seals.

i'm upgrading to a mase kit really soon and i'm planning on changing the retainers and valve stems then but do you think thats the problem or is my turbo going bad??

the turbo is oil cooled only. it didn't plume smoke before the turbo and its just done it a few times after. usually after i've driven awhile and stopped for gas then start the car and it smokes for a few minutes then stops

Turbo issues will be blue smoke (oil)

White smoke is normally coolant related. Are you losing coolant? is there any oil in coolant? is the car overheating?

white smoke is coolant. since your turbo is oil-cooled then the most logical explanation would be the head gasket.

yeah, those #s are pretty good on a cold motor. are you sure the smoke is white and not blue?

it might be blueish. i'll see if it happens again and i'll check for sure.

it started after i installed the turbo and it was used with 8k+ miles so i'm leaning that it was ran hard its life and is going out.
