Ap1 Ballist vs Ap2
I got a ticket for a headlight being out and have been activitly trying to fix it. I picked up a bulb the last week and when I went to put it in I found the plug for the HID had shorted and melted. So I pick up 2 ballist from a member and I try to hook them up. I could see they were slightly different but they pluged in, however they didn't fire. I have tested them but for whatever reason they will not fire.
I've searched on here and I know there is some difference between an ap1 and ap2 but I haven't been able to find or see the difference to determine what I actually have. I called atlantic and the parts guy was a useless dick (thanks for the excellent customer service). So if I can't call a dealer and get some help and I searched and can't find anything I was hoping someone knows or can give me a little help.
The number off the unit originally on my car is x6t026719805
The number off the unit that doesn't work is w3t110701 (what vehicle is the ballist I have for then?)
They both call for the a D2 bulb they both have the same wattage and voltage rating. The light bulb plugs are the same I was considering putting the unburnt plug on the old ballist but I dont know why original one burned so don't really want to chance is. I will not spend the 800-900 at the dealer for that part its just stupid money.
Anyone?

you probably got a D2R bulb and not the D2S bulb which is what we use.

Maybe u blew afuse or relay when your original bulb malfunctioned. Check those. Check with a test light to see if the plug is getting voltage when u turn the light switch on.
To do this:
First remove the ballast and put it aside. Turn on the light switch. Get a test lite and probe the positive terminal on the plug that plugs into the ballast (the plug attached to the car's harness). Ground the lead on the test light to a known good ground. If the test light lights, ur getting power.
Check the ground on that plug by probing the ground terminal and attaching the lead to battery power. If the test light lights, u have ground.
If either of those don't make the testlight light, check wiring and fuses and relays.
The ap1 ballast is massive compared to the ap2 ballast. So...if ur ballast is much smaller, or won't bolt in,you have the wrong ballast. Post pics of ur ballast.
