Default AP1 Modifry ECT fix incorrect bar count

Hey S2ki,

I just installed my Modifry ECT-2 module for my stock/OEM AP1 (ECT-2 for S2000, seems they are sold out of this version atm) and am running into issues with the number of bars displayed.

We have double checked that all our connections are good and that the wiring works correctly by running the diagnostic test on the instruction manual (jumper wire from power to sensor, 3rd bar lit up on the dash like it was supposed to). We know that power and ground work too because we independently tested an AEM temp gauge using the same spliced wires for power and ground and it turns on without any problems.

The ECT module seems to display a couple different (erroneous) things...
1. most of the time the ECT module has the dash come up with full/6 bars (the led on the module blinks rapidly during this time)
2. occasionally the ECT module will start with one bar only and after about 30 seconds of the car being on it goes back to full 6 bars
3. TWICE the ECT module seemed to display the correct readout (2 and 3 bars) for about 30 seconds and then slowly increased the number of bars until it was back to full 6 after around a minute

We've also tried using the ECM mounting bolt as a different ground (rather than the spliced ground wire from the ECM) but that didn't change anything.

Not sure what to do at this point, set Bob @ Modifry a message but wanted to see if anyone else had run into this issue and if the fix is quite obvious...

Just wanted to post a reply/update to this situation...

It ended up being an issue with two wires coming into contact with each other. I had too much wire showing/stripped away rubber and the sensor wire had begun contacting the ground wire where the wires screw into the ECT module. Once I cut the metal a little shorter and the tip fit entirely in the screw housing I no longer saw any weird behavior with the bars.
