^^ What makes you think that? At 120k the tranny fluid would be fried.

Dirty clutch fluid is the NUMBER ONE cause of all gear grind issues and notchy shifting.

Hi all, I also have a 2nd gear problem as well on my 05 with 82k. The gear pops out and it saddens me every time this happens. Here's my noobie question.. is clutch fluid same as diff slip fluid? My maintenance shop just ordered red line gear oil and said it'll be the same.. which brings me to my next question on where to purchase amsoil products since the s2ki community seems to love it in our s's. Thanks!!

WTFf? clutch fluid and differential fluid is NOT the same!!!!!!!!!!! Clutch fluid is brake fluid, not diff oil. Diff oil can be used for tranny in some cars, but not S2000. S2k tranny uses GL-4, and diff fluid is GL-5. Trust me, when I was a noob in mechanics, I used diff fluid on tranny for 6 months, and grinding was developed very fast.

As Billman mentioned above, bad clutch fluid also does cause serious grinding. when I got a new clutch slave cylinder, I had to flush clutch fluid three times to make my tranny happy.

Post where the shop is. All members should avoid the shop.

This is my clutch fluid..how it looks? I think the last time this car was serviced was in 2010. I bought it with 28k miles this year

Honestly just change it. That way you can start your own intervals and you know when to time everything. The first thing i did when i got my S2k last year was bring it to my trusted mechanic and get every single fluid changed out.
