Default AP2 no LSD?

I've just had my '05 Ap2 in for an MOT. When up on the ramp jacks, my mate span one wheel. To my knowledge, if one wheel spins in one direction, shouldn't the opposite spin in the other? Mine just spun one at a time

Was it in neutral or 1st gear? I believe it needs to be in gear to perform the way you described.

It was in neutral, that might explain things. I'll try again, thanks

I don't think the gear the tranny is in, when the car is stationary, matters --- in terms of how an LSD works. The LSD operates only when one rear tire is turning considerably faster than the other side. Like when one tire is stuck in a ditch & you are applying a lot of gas. Or during extreme cornering speeds in tight turns.

I believe that an LSD operates like a non-LSD diff, during routine cornering. AFAIK.

It might because there would be no opposing load from the drive shaft at all when the car is in neutral. I did the same thing the other day when checking out a wheel bearing and thought I had a bad diff. Put the car in gear and all was good!

Car must be in gear.

I meant when the car is stationary, at idle. You can't tell if the LSD is working or not.

Thanks, for correction.

They all have LSD. If it wasn't working, it'd be broken and likely be making noises. It doesn't "wear out" in the traditional sense because its a torsen type diff.
