AP2 Retainers with Supertech Double Valve Springs
To make a short story long:
-Built AP1 block, GT2860RS, full track car, etc
-Install Supertech double springs, spring locators, and retainers 5k miles ago
-Inspected head and retainers are in bad shape, steel springs seem to be eating the Ti
So the question is, can I swap out the Ti retainers for AP2 stock ones?

You could use the outer spring only. The inner spring would have no step to locate on the underside of the retainer.
Alternatively, carefully lap the ends of the springs where they touch the retainers so they are smooth without the shot peening texture, and optionally get the underside of the retainers moly coated.

FYI titanium retainers are not cut out for street duty as you are seeing. They are typically for race applications and are meant to be replaced frequently. They are usually used in applications where the motor is torn down after every race or at the worst at the end of every season. They gall too easily and rapidly to be used on the street in a car that gets driven more than 1000 miles a year.
