Default ap2 shocks on ap1?

I have the chance to pick up some ap2 shocks to replace my existing blown shocks. will the ap2 shocks work with ap1 springs? is it a direct bolt on? will the ride quality be different? how so? i checked the part# for the shocks and they are diff. for ap1 vs ap2.

thanks so much

I know they are visually the same. I THINK, the spring and shock changed rate in 2002, then again in 2004. I do notice 2000-2001 cars sit a little lower than 2002-2003.

According to an online parts supplier, 00, 03, and 04 all use different shocks AND springs.

Anybody have any good info on this?
