August 2018 battery

Default August 2018 battery

I've read literally dozens of battery threads here and unfortunately, many suggest options which are not available (Discontinued batteries, or Costco, etc).

I don't and won't be tracking the car so don't need a weight reducing battery. I have a lot of Amazon credit, so would prefer to find one there if possible.

What is the current "reasonable" battery for a summer car? It'd probably be taken out and put on a trickle charger (apart from the car) from Nov to March. I really don't think I need a $250 battery, given it won't see freezing temps or winter use.

Which group sizes actually fit? I saw that someone seems to have fit batteries other than 51R in there. This may solve the problem if it's a drop-in solution.

The battery size is indeed 51R and any auto parts store should have one or can get one by tomorrow for $90.

Walmart batteries are actually pretty decent. I'm told Honda dealer batteries are a decent price too.

Honda batteries are a pf51r interstate which is mexico made junk, they stick a long pro-rated warranty but they aren't good... you can get an interstate mt51r for prolly around 100 bucks that will last you a long time and is probably the best normal battery on the market

Picked up a 500CCA battery at the local Napa. From looking online, I expected them to be hard to find, but they had 51R in two or three flavors.

I just buy whatever is on sale at the local farm and fleet. I'm not driving in the arctic circle or the Sahara.

I went OEM because of the great warranty and reasonable price. It's worked out better than the AutoZone unit I purchased a couple years ago.

I also use a CTEK MULTI 3300 trickle charger in the winter months. I don't bother removing the battery from the car.

My Optima Yellow Top is now 9 years old.

Prior to that I had 2 WalMart batteries that leaked and ate away at my paint. I no longer want batteries that leak.

51 is the correct (OEM) group size for the battery, not 51R.
