I got the entire assembly for around 200 from advance auto online. Disassembled and replaced the cup on one side and replaced the whole shaft and joint on the other. At advance they discontinued the drivers side so I had to reuse the old shaft but replaced the cup.

The axle itself is a steel rod with splines at both ends.
There is not much to wear.
Only the splines can "wear", if that happens the splines in the outboard CV or the splines in the spider in the inboard CV are also damaged (or both).

If the inboard CV is damaged (vibration during acceleration) you could swap them left/right.
That gives a fresh patch of steel on the "drive" side.

Corey,

Spitfire is correct - if you need some help let us know, I can come down - or you can come up to KY.
