I have an 04 and had the same issue as you. I could put it in 4/5th gear when going slow and give it gas and the clutch would not slip, but as soon as you would shift it in the higher rpms pretty hard it would slip like it was getting wheel spin.
I was planning on my clutch anyway so when I did, the clutch disc was pretty worn and was glazed. After replacing the clutch it does not do that anymore. I still have the cdv on my car and I do not notice it slip one bit after replacing it with a stronger clutch. You might have the same issue I had

Not driving it hard regular daily driving feels like the gear wont catch and i can barely drive. Putting it in first gear it struggles to get to 10mph with it shooting for 4rpm+. While this is off topic - did you get the clutch changed at a shop? Its likely you didnt break it in properly or the shop didnt clean the PP/got grease on the clutch plate. Also possible that its an improperly adjusted clutch pedal. I doubt they'd put in a new slave cylinder (new slave has the CDV) into your car for just a clutch change.
