Well I don't really remember why I was doing it. I think someone pulled in front of me and then I was exiting so had it in neutral and then having a fever I was all messed up and I think threw it into 2nd meaning to be 4th.

Thanks for the help you guys. Does anyone know of a money estimate on getting the retainers checked and if need be, replaced?

For like $175 I think it cost me from a local member who does lots of maintenance to s2k's. Got a valve adjustment and checked the retainers at the same time. Don't know the cost to replace them though.

Also this is a case where
AP1>AP2
since the ap1 tranny second tops out around 65 rather then 56-ap2
and you can rev the F20c out to a little above 9k with no worries

I can imagine an f22 going kaboom! in this situation
Not trying to start an ap1. vs. ap2 war here just pointing out what I found intertaining here

Cheap insurance would be to replace them on the intake side only.

Post up in your local s2ki forum and ask for a recommendation for a shop or mechanic in your area. $175 is pretty high...most of the decent shops in my area would not charge more than $100 to adj the valves and check the retainers.

Your unsure about the speed you were going, you also slow downed by the time you actually looked down to check the speedo. Which means you were going faster then you think we were.

Go out and spend 150.00 and change all the intake side valves retainers.

150.00 is nothing compared to a new/used block

check your valve retainers to see if they're cracked, I did exactly the same thing you did, and I have not had any problems from it, the s2k is a very strong build piece of Japanese engineering
