so, I was on an errand earlier to get a CEL code pulled (P0411, nothing major. it goes on and off on my car).
on the way home, I heard a very discerning noise, a distinct "deep" rattling that's RPM dependent when it's in gear and moving, and when it's not in gear (ie: rolling to a stop), it seems speed dependent, like it gets slower and slower when rolling to a stop.
At rest, with any combination of clutch in/out and in or out of gear (without stalling it), the noise isn't there. It's only when I'm moving. The sound doesn't change either when I'm rolling in neutral and depress the clutch.
I think it's drivetrain related, but I'm not sure if it's the clutch or diff or what.
It pulls like normal and shifts fine, which is the weird part to me.

any and all input as to what the issue is would be greatly appreciated.

 

Seems similar to when my diff went. My sound was more like a clicking that clicked faster as the wheels spun faster, then slowed as the wheels slowed. When I drained my diff I found chunks of metal.

I'm thinkin that's what the issue is more and more now that I've talked to many people about it.
I'm probably going to drain my diff this week and check it out.
