Bad oil change

If they don't extend your warranty, I would definitely get it in writing that due to their mistake, all oil was lost out of your engine, which could eventually lead to unusual wear and maybe engine failure down the road because they'll be the first ones to turn around and say you were abusing the car if and when something like that happens.

Well the service manager just called me and said he had his best master technician looking at it this morning and doing some tests on it and everything is OK. He was extremely apologetic and asked what he could do to keep me as a customer. I was getting ready to have my fluids changed (brake, diff. & MTF) so they are doing that free of charge as well as detailing it. I asked him if the tech. hand tightened the drain plaug and didn't torque it and he said that's what happened. Also, it will be noted that the drain plug came loose, I lost all my oil, and they are responsible so any problems down the line, they will take care of. Thanks for everyone's input. And no, there will be a different tech dealing with my car, not the Bozo that hand tightened the plug.

It's good to read the dealer is doing their best to rectify the situation. Gump happens, but it's what happens as a result of the gump that counts. Hopefully, you won't have to take them up on "taking care of any problems down the line." But it's good to know that you have that reassurance.

But yeah, change it yourself next time.

If they're changing your other fluids make sure they use the right ones. It is not uncommon for the dealer to use the wrong fluid, especially in the diff.

It sounds like you have a good service manager at that dealership. They are being very straightforward with you and that's a refreshing change from other stories I've read about on this web board.

Well, it's because of this board that I am so knowledgable about the S. They understand that, so that is probably why I'm being treated better than some old lady with an accord.

Go for the extended warrantee! 40,000 miles from now you may not be in the area or the service manager may have moved on.
