Looks like MY01 battery has finally given up. Only three years life. Any advice on which way go from here? According to your experiences should I get another one from a Honda dealer(made for our cars) or should I go with an aftermarket one?

Thanks

There is no reason not to buy a good quality aftermarket battery in the correct size and capacity. There's nothing special about the ones you get from the dealership.

Douglas, Interstate & Sears (among others) all have decent batteries at decent prices if you don't want or need fancier ones.

I've had good luck with Sears Die Hard's.

Most OE batteries are not very good and will not last very long if you live somewhere that gets very cold for long periods.

I just thought that because my car is an 01 and only has 20000 miles perhaps Honda would replace my battery as a courtesy.

You can try, but I'd be surprised if they did. I had a battery replaced under warrantee, but it was only 2 years old when it failed. You are well over the 36 months even though your car has been driven relatively few miles.
