Best Time to Shift Into Neutral During Decel
From the very first result in your google search.
If you want to double clutch, more power to you. You may slightly reduce the wear on your syncro's, but unless you are making your syncros work really hard, you should have to worry about wearing them out too fast.
Keep in mind the synchronizer also performs the function of spinning the input shaft to the speed of the gear you are trying to engage. So with a synchronized transmission, double-clutching is redundant. The synchronizers already match the speed of the gears so they engage. You don't have to do this yourself with the double-clutch. If you have good synchronizers, double-clutching is a waste of time.
However, keep in mind that double-clutching is from back in the era when cars didn't have synchromesh or the synchromesh was fragile. Newer cars have synchros to match gears between shifts and thus negates the need to double-clutch.

I was merely asking Billman why double clutching is never needed.. older hondas had issues with syncros wearing out, and I'll happily change my TO bearing more often and save some wear on my tranny. If the s2k syncros are more stout with little/no syncro wear then that's a good reason to not double clutch rather than just "syncros do that work."
I've never double clutched. That's what the synchro a are for. 190K+ miles double stock power and stock trans is still nice and smooth! Double clutching with synchro a is a waste of time. Theoretically might reduce tiny amount if wear on synchros, real world don't see it being an issue at all.

It's bloody loud leaving it in gear exiting the freeway. I just pop it in to neutral and coast. If I need to be back in gear it takes at most half a second to blip the throttle and put it in gear.

Clearly man you're a bad driver, just accept it. Don't you know that you're either supposed to be on the throttle or braking at all times??
Oh wait, we're talking about the street.. There are exceptions to the rule. I guess no one has ever coasted down a big hill/mountain in neutral.. or been coasting in traffic and had to skip a gear when downshifting..

to each's own. I rev match on down shifts while heel toe. Granted not all the time but I like to slow down and have the right gear in place. Just out of habit I guess ( stupid initial D ) But up shifting i just press in the clutch and let go of the gas a little later to let the RPM climb a little.

, we're talking about just one extra push of the clutch pedal since you should be rev matching anyway. Why do extra work when it is useless?

double clutching is a waste of time.
