Useless is a bit of a stretch. As I said, for certain circumstances I'm sure it helps more than others. I rev match all the time, but less frequently double clutch. I can double clutch almost as quickly as I can rev match and on the street where I'm holding my dick half the time while driving, it's kind of fun. To each their own I guess.

If I'm putzing in 6th and need to goto 3rd, I'll double clutch. When on the track, I don't heel toe and double clutch, just heel toe. Perhaps I'm overly anal/concerned about wear, but it's really no more "work" in my eyes. Some people think heel toeing is unnecessary as well..

When you go from 6th to 3rd, are you at least rowing through the gears?

After having read this thread, I still ponder what is right and what is wrong.

Slowing down from 60 to 20 (turning directly off a highway), sometimes I downshift and rev match through every gear, other times I'll stay in 6th, slow down to about 20mph where the RPM's return to idle (1,000), clutch in, move shifter to 2nd, and rev match.

Should I bring the RPM's up first before moving the shifter to 2nd?

Blipping the throttle and shifting is almost simultaneous when rev matching. You blip the throttle just a hair before. With double clutching, you need to blip the throttle before sliding it into gear. With practice, they can almost seem simultaneous.

Would you mind making that noise for us again please?

just my .02, use your gears, engine braking uses no gas, saves from your using your brakes as much. i revmatch downshift every gear. if im in 6th going to a stop i go all the way to second downshifting to every gear and only go to neutral when at almost idle about to stop. being in gear at all times is a good practice, never know when you need to put power down. saved me a few times. and double clutching, ugh meh ill stay out of that one.

lol at leaves it in gear to save gas, but then sits at the light in neutral waiting for green light.

decelerating in gear uses no gas (engine is being driven from the rear wheels via the diff and tranny and acts like an air pump), so yes it saves gas. every bit helps, no?
