Under certain conditions, revving the engine with the car just sitting there will cause this even in a perfectly normal car. It's not necessarily an indication of anything to do with your situation. Just don't rev it like that. You probably don't want to be revving it when something could be seriously wrong.
Yes, that's the way the ECU works. Especially after it has just been reset and before it relearns the best idle.

And yes, it's foolish to be revving the car. There are many things that could be wrong with it that aren't too bad to fix as long as you don't keep driving/revving it. If you keep running the engine until you do secondary damage, it could cost you a lot more money.

Bushi, just in case you don't know why we are all hung up on the oil, the VTEC system works by using the oil pressure for activation. At least 9 times out of 10, if there is a problem with VTEC it really means there is a problem with the oil. However, there are a lot of more rare things that could also be wrong.

Synthetic 10w30 is what was used.

To re-iterate what has been said, oil pressure is responsible for VTEC operation as well as the timing chain tensioner. That's why we kept harping on it.
I'm almost fearful that you may have "thrown" a cog (or broke a tooth) on the timing chain (cam sprocket). Again, I'm really guessing and reaching here. That much rattling isn't a good thing, especially when it doesn't seem to go away or change with rpm.
