Billman's Brake Fluid Gravity bleeding revised
#73
You could just use a pyrex and measure out 150 - 170ml of fluid, on average that's how much I bleed from each caliper before it turns clear. Volkswagen trains their techs to empty 500ml of fluid from each wheel brake which is total overkill.

All respect to you billman, I think that's overkill personally. That would mean you need two one-liter bottles(the tall ones) of brake fluid just for brakes, I usually go through a 1 liter bottle of brake fluid per flush, with clutch hydraulics included. That's with emptying both reservoirs topping them off bleeding and re-filling after each wheel and clutch master. I mean it certainly wouldn't hurt if you want to be thorough, but I can't justify $45 - 50 worth of brake fluid to do a simple flush. Less so if you do it at least once a year. Tracking your car is probably a different story, you gotta pay to play and I understand that.
Edit: Whoops, I forgot there's 2 pints per liter, damn dyslexia.

Anyone have any thoughts on speed bleeders using the gravity system? My thought is that they won't work. I am replacing all of the calipers and the old ones had speed bleeders, I am just trying to decide if I want to swap them over as well.
Just answered my own question, seems the speed bleeders suck (they came with the car and I have not used them yet) and based on how they work I don't think they would work for Gravity bleeding, so they will stay with the old calipers

Can ATE Super Blue Fluid be imported from Germany? If not, I presume the ATE TYP 200 DOT 4 (yellow) will work fine. Since yellow/amber fluid is the only one available, is OEM Honda DOT 3 or 4 just as good? Or stick with the German stuff?
Much thanks!

Just use the amber stuff, no biggie, just use a little less than half a pint on each wheel.
