Yeah that and shift at the proper place for this motor, 4.5-5k is much better. 3k isnt even in the effeciency range of this motor yet and your shifting there, which means your lugging it around in 2-2.5k

Cruise at 3.5k rpm

Unless you're trying to elect a pope, drive the S like it's supposed to be, they like to be revved. Even your gas milage will improve.
