there always seems to be a decent engine available in the for sale forum, likely the best way to go. Cylinder four always seems to be the first one to go in oil starvation situations.

You can post in the want to buy forum as well and see if someone has an engine available, I think they go for about 2500 used depending on condition.

Cylinder four is the most likley to fail during oil starvation situations. Cracked valvetrain retainers are a culprits in dropped valves, oil starvation and failed retainers are different situations that are not necessarily related. Good luck with things.

 

hey search for 00-01 spark plug recall on the forum...this happened to my 00 s2k 19,000 miles when i first bought the car except only the tip of my spark plug broken...i printed evidence and they replaced my motor free (it was estimated almost 10k for parts and labor)...whew i got so lucky =)
