Default Blue smoke

Started up the car after school today and my friend said that he saw a puff of blue smoke on initial start up. It ran fine and drove home with no issues and no smoke out of the exhaust. Had my little brother sit in the car and run her up to 9k sitting still and nothing unusual other than a little black smoke at redline. Any ideas?

Not sure why you would want to run the car up to 9k rpm's sitting still. Overrevving an engine especially if cold is going to cause more problems than some blue smoke. Take it to a mechanic if you think theres something wrong instead of just guessing around.

Valve seals.

When they go, the oil weeps past the valves and collects into the cylinders when the car sits for some time. When you fire up the car that oil on top of the pistons burns off, hence the blue smoke on start up.

Not really initially "bad" for a motor if it is a operating temperature. Just revving with no load. I Imagine its the same thing when I downshift at the track and its in neutral for that split second.

Plus he said he drove home and THEN he revved it up. So he was warmed up.

+1. Classic valve seal symptoms.
