Bogging Problem Finally Solved!
Bump this thread
Having a similar bogging issue with 2001.
I find used TB assemblies online for under $200. Replace the unit? Is that the consensus?
I do not know what the coolant bypass is.
I have the intake that routes to a K&N cone behind the right headlight. No air box.
Should I try to clean the throttle body first? remove sensors, clean etc.
thx

If your car runs better, just buy a new map sensor. It worked for me.
Thanks. I will check. I see online the new map sensor set is $85. Used throttle body assembly is $175. I assume the MAP is usually the issue?
The throttlebody is simply a hunk of metal with a hole in it, with a butterfly valve to control airflow. Not much that can go wrong with it, other than getting dirty*
Its the sensors bolted to the TB that go bad.
Clean TB thoroughly, test and replace sensors. No need to buy a new TB.
* Eventually, after a zillion miles, the steel shaft the butterfly pivots on can become loose within the bearing surfaces of the throttle body, allowing a vacuum leak. If that ever happens, then yeah, time for a new tb.

@Thomas Guide Did you mean to attach your 116 page 2015 medical insurance "welcome packet."
(Not sure the included prostate screening would have applied to the throttle body -- wrong end.)

Gunky Channel repost:
That small air channel being gunked up was my bogging down culprit. Trying to flush it out with carb cleaner and a can of air helped a little but eventually needed to take the throttle body off to properly clean it and after was good as new.
That tiny bit of gunk at the bottom of the air channel was causing the bogging and stutter, probably the fine coating of blackness in the channel didn't help either.
Ok, removed the MAP sensor and cleaned it a bit. Also cleaned the inside of the TB which has a fair amount of black gunk past the valve. I also sprayed into the MAP airflow hole and cleaned what I could with Q-tip...it runs so much better. It was having this bogging issue mainly in rain situations...so humidity.
But seeing the above picture, if more issues, I may remove the TB and be sure all those channels are clean. Is the gasket reusable, or go ahead and order a replacement if I do that?

You're gonna need a new gasket, it's only a few bucks. Check the manual, but don't spray directly onto the throttle plate with cleaner as it has a molybdenum coating and Honda states not to spray it with cleaner.
how long do you think that coating can last on this? do you think it's still there?
