Drain your oil through a strainer. There's a company out there that you send them a sample of oil and they can tell the conditions of the crank bearings and such if its clogged there may be a serious issue.

I might send a sample to Blackstone.

But the oil was drained and there is no shortage of metal flakes. The engine is blown one way or another. Given the dealer's estimates, it's actually cheaper to go with an Inline Pro built engine

Luckily when I bought it (last month!) I paid extra for my insurance policy to cover any damage causing a breakdown within the first year. Looks like they're paying for a new engine...

haha jk. well at least you do not have to worry about it coming out of your wallet (per se) and you will benefit from a fresh engine. keep us updated! i definitely want to know what happened

I've only had the car a month, and I actually drove it gentler than my last S2K...

It ran fine then suddenly got that inconsistent lag problem (posted in the first video), then it got more severe. Around the time I pulled the solenoid and found the metal flakes, the engine couldn't even rev past 3000 RPM before coughing. Also, it struggled to idle.

There really were no signs or "oh shit" moments. In the month I owned it I never even exceeded the redline. It just a gradually got worse over the course of about a week

The current working theory is that the oil pressure switch got clogged with metal particles. There were probably few enough or small enough particles that the engine was slowly eating itself away and the stuck switch was just the first symptom.

It was the thrust bearing.

Really wish is was just an idle air control valve

Even with the damage you see there, the engine was still able to run
