BOV on supercharger is there to release boost when you get off the gas and the charger is still pushing air, against the now closed throttle.

is is not the same as as a wastegate on a turbo that releases all the pressure above the set point of maximum boost.

comptech kits routes its BOV back into the intake, so it is not that loud. pete had an aftermarket BOV on his car before he took of the SC and went stock for the honda challenge series, vented to atmosphere and it was loud.....

 

Funny you should mention Pete's BOV and supercharger, it's now mine and yes, the TiAL is loud.

 

A wastegate lets the exhaust gas bypass the turbine so the turbo is no longer driven. It is not the same as a BOV.

I guess the equivalent on an SC would be a clutch on the drive pulley. Some of the big roots style SC's have electronic clutches that are manually engaged.

 

have some one resolve the bolt pattern issue on the comptech cooler? I might have missed it. Also, for those that have Bov on their comptech kits, are there any problems?
