Brake lights don’t always work
Hey guys, I just realized that my brake lights don’t always work. They light up just fine, they just don’t light up all the time whenever I press the brakes. If I do a good firm press, then they turn on. But if I do a gentle push, a lot of the times it won’t turn on no matter how far I push. Until I release and try again will they maybe turn on.
I did a little research and it seems like it could be the brake light switch. Just posting this to ask if it sounds like it could be this or maybe it could be something else? Appreciate any input

Yes, it could easily be the brake light switch.
Imagine two contact plates, held closed by a spring, and a plunger that when pressed pushes the plates apart against the spring.
Now imagine the spring is old and weak, and the plates somewhat corroded. Its easy to imagine letting the plunger release slowly and gently could let the plates not make good contact. Whereas letting the plates crash together quickly and forcefully would be more likely for them to make firm contact.
