Can anyone say approximately how many 2.5s Inline has sold?

Not having a go, but we know of two and both have initially failed for whatever reason. Unless I hear some more success stories I'm going to assume that 2.5L is just over the bleeding edge of reliable.

That said, if anyone with an 04-^ is considering a 2.5 I would be interested in your crank and rods.

oh ok...that's a big chunk of information that was missing from before. So that basically adds to making blkturbos2k's comment even more null and void. Not to mention there are plenty of vehicles out there that run higher compression, leaner, and with shit gas (91 octane) from the factory.

Sounds to me like a problem with the build up. Who did you have build the motor? Are the oil squirters still in place?

You say noise...not the sound of a bearing that's been spun or is it? I haven't followed this whole thread so I haven't bothered to really read it...sorry if you've already answered these.
Today i saw again the block and found that the oil banjo bolts or oil injectors are not installed the holes are sealed!! We had a campain in Europe for replacement of the oil injectors o banjo bolts

Jeremy from inline built the block. The Block was installed at Honda

Wow, I didn't think you could even run the engine without them. I guess there's sufficient oil coming from other areas to (almost) get by.

Sounds like a huge mistake.

Sounds like you might be getting parts as well.

I'd say that the no oil squirters to cool the pistons would be the likely cause of failure.

Did they plug the holes the bolts thread into?

Are the bores notched at the bottom to clear the connecting rod?

Im baffled why they wouldn't install the oil jets!

If you were to see how these motors were sleeved out you would understand it is just not conceivable for the oil squirters to be in place. Inline never intended or tried to use the squirters. The sleeves are not notched either.I'll tell you this though i know have over 7,000 mi. on my 2.5L this is my second one, the first one went with the same problem Juan had. this occurred because the motor was not broken in AT ALL it went straight to the dyno like many other of inline's race cars. We determined the problem to be to much silicone in the piston causing to high of an expansion rate, as well as not breaking it in.The fact the my motor has run and run just fine with out the oil squitters is more then enough reason to say that juans problem was not the squitters.

If the sleeves they use remove the oil squirters, they are taking a big reliablity risk at the expense of big displacement.

Got a pic of the bottom of the sleeve?
