Default Broken ACT pressure plate?

About to put my clutch back in. I was swapping in an oem disk in favor of the ACT street disk and noticed this...

I cant verify that any other ACT pressure plate has that split. If it is broken, its a damn clean break. This plate only has 15000 miles on it, if even that!

I have seen this ONE time, exact same ACT PP. Exact same split in the same spot.

The guy bought the PP to my shop to be installed already broken (he didn't see the split), so I don't know the cause.

I have had one in my car for 120k and I couldn't be happier.

I also have countless other customers that use it and they have all been great.

Keep the oem disc, you will not like the ACT disc I promise you that. The clutch buzz is horrible.

Were you driving the car with the PP like that and didn't know?

Yea, I was driving the car with the ACT disk. Its does buzz pretty bad. I'm not sure if the PP was like this when I bought it or not. I didn't notice that when I installed it initially so it could've been like that when I got it. So I guess there goes another $500 towards the car... the clutch was starting to slip a little inbetween shifts, just barely, but noticeable. I thought it was the aftermarket throw out bearing I used, because it was kind of cheap. The splines being split makes more sense... I can't remember if that plate was like that when I bought it and installed it, that was 3 or more years ago. This sucks!

Shipped the plate to ACT. They are replacing the diaphragm and resurfacing the mating surface for free! Excellent customer service.

A gentleman named Dean Williams helped me from start to finish. Responded to my emails within 30 minutes and made sure everything went smoothly. Glad they decided to stand beside their product, really says a lot about them as a company.
