Default Broken bit in oil

Changed my oil and installed Fumoto valve Friday night. I noticed a sliver of aluminum in the pan and thought it was from my drain plug( whole reason I switched to the Fumoto). Upon closer inspection I am a little concerned it is something else. It looks more like it broke off and less like something that the plug stripped the pan. I thought I read something similar recently too.

Looks about the same size on the brain plug threads. Last time it was actually stuck to the plug. This time it was in the bottom of my oil catch pan.

When you look from the side, it looks more broken then shaved

It does look like a thread from the pan/drain bolt. Perhaps from over tightening or initial cross threading.

Was there a reason you went to a Fumoto valve? Like...did you have a stripped drain plug?

And is there a chance you left that metal thread in your catch pan whenever you swapped out your drain plug?

yes and no. Yes I switched to the Fumoto because my plug was damaged. No, there is no chance this was already in the pan from before.

im feeling better after hearing you guys think what i was thinking. I’m glad I don’t ever have to mess with it again.

No leaking from the new plug?

Thanks!

Aren't you the same person who also posted about the oil analysis? I wish that the threads were made of lead... that would be awesome, means you have no engine wear lol
