R- compounds and Auto-x use are the cause. The AP2's have a strap between both sides of the bracket added.

Yea, but I can't see the tires in his avitar, and he didn't say anything about R compound tires. I can't imagine this happening on OEM tires, but if it is I want to get my seam welding done "real soon now."

Several years of autocrossing on R-compound tires is most likely the cause of my problem. I am guessing the thousands of miles spent driving the dragon did not helps matters.
