Default Broken valve cover bolt

So I was trying to take my valve cover bolts off today and one just broke. It was one of the short bolts 1 of 4 around the outside of the valve cover. I was wondering how I could fix or replace it.

Would I have to get a bolt extractor kit or is there a way to take that whole rubber peice off?

Same thing happened to me when i was putting the cover back on after valve adjustment but i was able to "chisel" edge of the remaining bolt and it started to spin free, i think the bolts get "tired" from heat and dont like being overtightened.... can you take a pic of what happened (how much bolt is sticking out, how much room you got around it etc.)

If you're referring to the 5x 10mm valve cover bolts just put the edge of a flathead screwdriver in there and twist out what is left of the bolt.

Edit: Wait how did you break it while taking it out? o_O

I had the very same thing happen to me and I just drove a few miles and the shank backed itself out due to vibration. Those threaded sleeves are deeper than the bolt is long so the shank isn't touching the bottom anyway...

The head of the bolt pluse like 4 threads came off so it's like 4-5 threads deep in the hole it's the bolt closest to the front of the motor.

I'm going to try and twist it out like u said today.. Hopefully it works
