Default bumper plug issue

Picked up new '06 and the dealer put the front plate on. No biggie I took the plate off and picked up some OEM bumper plugs. When I was putting them in the car on one side the female metal threaded part popped out inside the bumper.

Looks like there is no easy way to reach it without taking the bumper apart. I did search on this a little and it looks to be a relatively common issue. I'm not the only one with this problem... So how do I fix it?

Take it to the dealer? Take it apart myself? It's pretty annoying to be running around w/ one plug and one hole inside which there is this metal thing sitting crooked. Damn what posseses dealers to put on that ghetto front plate? They should just save themselves the effort.

I would call the dealership and explain the problem, maybe they will do it at no cost. Can't hurt to call.

From what it sounds like, you said it is sitting crooked, if you can see the threads try getting a long screw and thread it in and try to pull it back into place.

Well, good luck.

Same thing happened to me, and i ahd to take off my bumper. Not hard at all, jsut spend some time re aligning it and you will be fine. Check out www.ricks2k.com for bumper removal instructions. They will be under instalations, then headlight diffusors.

Mmm not too sure how it attaches. I would figure it snaps into place. Post and let me know if it works.

Same thing happened to me two weekends ago. Couldn't help but laugh because it was pretty lame to have it happen.

Ended up having a friend fish out the threaded part and used double sided tape for the remaining bumper plug. Wasn't worth the time taking off the bumper.
