Default Cai Info?

I just want to sort of apologize up front here. I am a complete beginner in this area. I just ordered my S2k and have been reading the forums a little when I can. In another post, I just found out what CAI stood for(cold air intake). I have noticed that quite a few owners have this mod. listed usually at the top of their mod list. So, I would greatly appreciate any info. into what this thing is, what it does, should I be wanting one, how I would get one if I did.. .. etc etc.. you get the picture hehe. It looks like a lot of writing, so if there is a good informative URL, that would be good too. Any help would be great. Thanks

Maestro

all a cai is a long tube with a filter on the tip. why? instead of having a filter in an inclosed airbox like the stock intake, having a open air filter is more efficient. likewise the position of the filter is relocated in order to bring in cooler air. in the case of the s2k injen and aem made a tube that snakes around to the right bottom portion of the bumper. its a good first mod because its cheap ($200-250) and because it produces a little bottom end power.
hope that helps!

there are advantages and disadvantages to various types of intakes. you just need to realize what they are before spending your hard earned money.
