CAI Wars!
ok so can anyone really confirm that the aem and injen cai designs are are in fact similar? do they both route to the right side of the bumper? i guess if they are pretty similar, the price will be the main determining factor for me...
Just received my Mingster CAI. Haven't installed it yet and probably won't until just before I leave for Sears Point, et al. (Want to stay stock for autocrossing.) However, it's beautifully made and incredibly light--while I'm waiting to install it, I think I'll just put it on the mantle next to the dulcimer.

But I'd damn well rather have the AEM intake in my car having dealt with both companies and seen the difference in commitment to performance.

The police and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety do this all the time. Think Speed Kills, Road Rage Kills, Red Light Running Kills. Sure, it might have happened but does the frequency justify a response?
It works like this: First, you talk about an emerging problem (which is how you get past the fact that no one has ever heard of it.) Then you create a solution to that problem (that someone must really have or you wouldn't have created a solution.) Then you sit back and collect your $fiftys.
Hmmm, I've really taken this into left field haven't I. Anyway, you get the idea. I'm keepin' my $ on this one.
If anyone is interested, I'll be getting ahold of a Vericom 2000 in the next couple of weeks. We already know Mingster has both the Spoon and his intake. I'm sure we could get ahold of a new Injen and AEM too.
With the Vericom, we could then install each intake, go to the same stretch of road (during the same time of day) and test. We could back this up with some dyno testing to see if real world acceleration backs up dyno results. I'd recommend using a car as near stock as possible. With proper setup we could probably swap intakes in less than 10-15 minutes each.
Something to think about.

UL that would be very cool! As for sucking up water. For anybody that missed it. With the Spoon or Mingster CAI just take the top off the air box in big rain or going through water.
