It is a little tough to get into the gears. I have to give a little more "umph" that I would like to. There are times when I am down on the clutch pedal down all the way and the gears are grinding! This happens primarily on 1,2,3 gears out of the blue.

My primary concern is that the car does not go into reverse. I go down on the clutch, push the stick down pull it to the right then it wont pop into place
However, it does go in when the car is not running! Here is the strange thing. I can place the gear in reverse and start the car, the car will slowly start pacing back even though I fully let down on the clutch.

Does this mean I have to bleed out the clutch fluid? I'm not sure whats going on!

 

Bleeding the clutch system would be a good start. How long has it been since you completely flushed the system? Clutch and brake fluid should both be completely flushed and refilled, just like oil. How often it needs to be done varies on driving style and other things, though. If you drive the car hard, I'd suggest upgrading to a better fluid with a higher boiling point. ATE Super Blue is good, and so is Motul.

check the inside of the car behind the pedal(for moisture) of the clutch master cylinder to see if yours is leaking. Normally they will leak into the interior of the car when they go bad. If this is the case it's time to replace the master. I just did mine, might as well do the slave at the same time

 

You are right! There was moisture behind the pedal. The slave seems to be fine. Where do you recommend to purchase the parts?

 

I bought a new OEM from the dealer, mine lasted 10 years the first time around so I have no issues with a new Honda part to replace it.

 

Dont let that moisture throw you off track...90% of s2k clutch masters leak.

Is it low on fluid?

 

There was a substantial leak in the bottom of the driver side footwell and yes it was very low on fluid. I just topped it off master cylinder. The slave seems to be fine. I pumped the clutch more when I go into first or reverse and that seems to help.

Should I switch out the master cylinder??

 

You could try clean fluid and monitor the leak. It usually stops with clean fluid. See how it goes....

 

Update on my situation. The car is doing fine for now with the new brake fluid. I didn't have to bleed it or anything.
