Default car bogs down when start after driving the car

Hello , i just wanna know if this is normal for my 01, every time i drive the car for a while and hitting vtec here and there, then when i stop turn the engine off, then try to start it again the rpm bogs down then i hear this tapping noise, after 30 seconds then the engine runs fine again. it only happends when the engine is really hot doing vtec.

Tapping noise? Like cards on a bicycle spoke? Only happens on hot starts? Goes away once you rev the engine?

It's your timing chain tensioner about to go bad.

Check your oil while the engine is cold and make sure you're at the full level (all five X's on the dipstick wet with oil)

A fully filled oil pan is a temporary fix for a timing chain tensioner going bad.

Don't go with OEM, it will just go bad after some time. Go with aftermarket options (PM Billman250 or buy from Ballade Sports).

i always check my oil every other day so i dont think its the oil, it happens only when i drive the car and hit vtec then turn engine off, then when i start again thats where the rpm bogs and tapping noise for about 30 seconds then the bog and tapping is gone. it does not bog when i dont use the vtec.

Video or sound bite. Your description is fairly vague.
If it's really a "tapping" sound, could be something serious.
Look up videos on timing chain tensioners (tct noise) and see if that's your sound.

I don't think that's tct noise but I'm listening on my phone's speaker. Sounds more like a top end issue.

That's good, keep an eye on it of course though.
Sometimes with a sudden change in weather jumping in your car, letting it warm up, and hitting VTEC early in a commute on a short commute will cause it to bog a little on a second start I believe.

And as for the TCT, it can make the ticking noise when the engine is warm but not on cold start, and then when warm (mid-commute) for a while the sound can go away altogether. This does NOT mean that you DON'T have a TCT problem.
