Default Car doesn't warm up all the way?

Lately seens it been cold my car hasn't warmed up all the way. Only warms up to 2 bars when driving, and 3 parked. Weird thing is the other morning I let my car sit and warm up for about 20 mins, got in and it was fully warmed up (3 bars). I start driving maybe a 1 miles or 2 down the road and look down and only have one 1 bar, I was like wth. Anybody have this problem?

Your thermostat isn't closing all the way. Replace it.

Are you sure that's what is or is it just because it's Winter? I drove mine a couple weeks ago before storing it for the Winter. The temp was at or a little below freezing and I had the same issue you describe.

If the thermostat does not close all the way it will let water flow past it when the engine is not up to normal operating temperature. So if the car is not moving, no or little air goes through the radiator and the car will get warmer than when the car is moving and when the car is moving air is going through the radiator and cools the water down. With electric fans, the fans won't turn on until the water gets up to the temp. set in the ecu.

Your car should get up to normal operating temp in the winter.

Absolutely, when I went to visit my brother in Kansas it got down to 15 below 0 and my car warmed up after about 10 minutes. That was the last time I went to Kansas in the winter.
