Default Car shoots out smoke while in WOT

I just put a Megan Test Pipe and HKS Hi-Power on MY01 S. Everytime I go WOT it shoots out smoke that is white with a tint of black also. Could this mean Im burning oil? Any suggestions?

Yes...the early AP1s do burn a bit of oil. Check your oil levels religiously.

The moderator for this forum, Slows2k, is just down in Montgomery. If you are really concerned, check to see if he would be willing to look your car over. I think he likes beer...try a bribe.

That's not good.

Check your oil and also check your coolant. If you are loosing coolant then you may have a bad gasket.

Carbon smoke (soot) is black. However, I suppose it could be something else that the cat was burning up.

I thought white smoke usually meant a coolant leak?

Could be the TP......but white is coolant being burnt.
  • White Smoke

White smoke can indicate that you are burning antifreeze. This can signal that you have blown a head gasket and that antifreeze is making it into the combustion chamber and blowing through the exhaust.
  • Black Smoke

Black smoke is usually unburned fuel and can generally be associated with running rich. A very common association with black smoke is a boost leak which is also associated with poor fuel economy, and fuel cut
  • Blue Smoke

Exhaust smoke that is "bluish" in color usually signifies that oil is getting into the combustion chamber or exhaust and burning off. This condition is usually refered to as Burning Oil.
