Thumbs up A/C Compressor Coil

Is this a job for a non too talented tinkerer? Looks like remove air box, then deal with the one bolt, then figure out where all the little clips fir after they fly out.

you would want to have the freon removed by a shop. then you could replace the compressor, then either you charge the system and hope there is no leak or bring back to shop, have them pressure test the system, then recharge it.

not hardest job, but freon evacuation/recharge makes it a little pain in the ass.

Why would you want to change the A/C compressor oil... ...typicaly it's good for the life of the compressor. If you do open up the system plan on changing out the accumulator drier which is the filtering device for the system

Thanks, I think I'll have the A/C people do it. Not oil- Coil. It seems to have gone according to the mechanic. No AC for a couple of weeks now. Got the part so just to throw it in.

If you mean the AC clutch, OR the magnetic coil, there is absolutely no reason to disturb the freon.

This is an external part of the compressor. It takes a little skill and patience, but can be done with the compressor in place. I've done 4 as a result of flooding

Turns out not to be the AC magnetic coil/clutch, but the heat sensor that sits on top of the compressor that controls the coil/clutch thingy in case the compressor is getting too hot. It needs to be replaced. They just bypassed it for now until I get one.

Anyone know the part number for that?
