Default Car shutdown after some minutes of driving

Hi guys

I need some help finding what is the problem with my car.

My car is a 2007 with 48k miles. The car is turbo since 2013 and is not a daily driver. Fuel pump is a AEM320 with ID1000 and PNP connectors.

A couple weeks ago I was driving home from work and the car suddenly died, tried to start it again but it wouldnt, it would just crank. Also didnt hear the fuel pump activating. It left me stranded near my home and had to get the car towed. Next day I changed the fuel relay and it started, and tried driving to my Honda Mechanic and the car left me again close to the shop.

Upon first inspection one of the cables on the plug connecting to the fuel relay was like disfigured/partially melted. My mechanic recommended changing the fuel pump and relay. Changed the relay again and the fuel pump for another AEM320. The problem persists, since we were using the stock cables to the fuel pump, we decided to install Sos fuel pump wiring kit. But the problem still persists. At this point the Starter died, and had to be repaired.

Now the car starts easily and idles perfect, but after a 3 -5 miles driving the misfire begins and it woulf shutdown while driving. It appears to be like a electrical/heat related issue, but we cant get to the root cause of this.

Any recommendation?

Regards

Sounds like you have a short to ground. Maybe, try a parasitic draw test?

Couldnt reach my mechanic today?

On these incidents is there something to replace or a specific place to look at?

Thanks!

I'd check all aftermarket electrical stuff first. Must be systematic & thorough in your check list.

Good luck!

Yesterday with the car on idle, we rattled the map sensor and the car turned off. We took it apart, inspected it and didnt find a problem. We reinstalled it back in and couldnt recreate the problem. Map sensor is aftermarket SOS 4 bar. We'll be installing today a new Hondata 4 bar map sensor and see if this nightmare is over...

I'll post soon if this was the problem.

Problem solved. After a week of driving, I can say the issue is gone after replacing the map sensor.

Thanks Windhund for Your posts and help and also Chris from SOS over the phone.

I'm having similar trouble as yours. Do you think it was just the map sensor? Why did you have melted electrical connector? What led you to the map sensor?
