Car shutting off for a quick second after sliding
Problem is caused by a drop in oil pressure and the car going into ODB-II safe mode to protect itself. Oil is not making it to the intake in sufficient quantitys to maintain full pressure. Not fair to compare race and autocross to your experience as the dynamics are very different. If you are very spirited and it bothers you then find a baffeled pan (like Spoon Racing).

sooo...because my car is drifting in the dry ....there is an insufficient amount of oil
getting to the intake to maintain full pressure?!?!!
i find it hard not to compare this to autox'ers. because ive watched ppl race, and ive also had a ride in my friends car while he was racing.
it seems like its only my car that does this.
all i really want to know is if i should get it checked out or not.
thanks for your input Utah S2K!!!

Do you see any smoke from your exhaust when this occurs? Sometimes when autocrossing or tracking my car, I have a similar issue. In my case, the engine bog is accompanied by smoke from the exhaust, and the root cause of the problem is that oil is being sucked up into the intake via the PCV valve and then burned off. When it occurs, the engine note also sounds "muddy".
I can't remember if this only happened when I was on R-compounds or if it has also happened when I was on street tires.
If this is your problem, I believe the solution is to install an oil catch can.

Have you updated the banjo oil jets?
Perhaps a sensor is loose (map sensor)?
Instead of drifting, try rocking the car left and right very quickly to recreate the event (get as much body roll as you can without). You don't needed to pin the gas down, but be steady on the gas so that you will notice a hesitation.
Try to disassociate the problem from the accelation, by not going WOT. if it's the motion of the car, then you can focus on something else (loose wires or bad sensor).
P.S Don't do it around people

how close to redline does that happen? not past it, right? cuz that would be the redline rev-limiter...
if you hit the rev limiter your engine will shutdown until you let go of the gas or shift into the next gear..
iDomN8U - that's a good idea..i will actually try that thanks.
jchung - i already answered that question above...it happens like right after vtec. im not stupid enough to hit the rev limiter and not knowing it haha. not trying to sound like a jackass.
