Default CarboTech AX6 - Squeakiness!

Hi All. I knew I was signing up for sqeaky brakes with these street-track pads, but I was wondering if that Permatex (or other) antisqueek brake goo would help at all? Just curious...

I thought the anti-squeek stuff goes on the back of the pads. Doesn't squeeking occur on the actual pad and rotor surface?

Have you bedded(break-in) the pads yet?

Don't bother. Anti-squeak isn't going to fix those.

Did you use the honda or equivalent greese on the shims? That helps a tiny bit. I don't care for these pads at all. Better than a lot, but not dramatically better than stock.

AX6 is typically better for cars lighter than the S2K...Miatas, for example. if you're not tracking your car, then why use an aftermarket pad? if you are, then use AX8 or AX10

I am tracking my car. I can definately handle the squeaking, but was curious if it could be eliminated. Any recommendations on street-track pads that don't squeak? Or is that mutually exclusive?

Best would be to run Bobcat on the street and an XP on the track. Since they are the same material you can run both on the same rotor with no problems.

One thing on the AX, you need to really bed it in and the squeaking will go away, but it will come back if you don't get the pads hot for awhile.

If you want one pad does it all, I would say Hawk HP Plus. They are by no means perfect, they are hard on rotors, they aren't noiseless, they aren't real cheap, they can't handle a balls out track day but they are the best compromise pad in my opinion.
