Does anyone have suggestion on how to protect to horizontal frame tunnel carpet from wear?? Impossible to avoid it when getting in & out & the carpet is wearing?

 

yup. Get the awesome 4 piece mats from Hendyeshop.co.uk. They have a smaller carpet piece over it.

Also, TuxMats near Toronto, ON, is currently 3D modelling our car's carpet. I'm interested to see what they come up with to cover that cross brace.

+1. Great mats. They wear like iron and they eliminate the problem of wear on the cross bar. Not cheap. But they are very high quality and well worth the price.

Everyone is talking about matts which cover the bulkhead bulge in front of the seats. But the OP seems to be asking about protecting the carpeted area of center tunnel, that covers trans and propshaft.

I do not know of anything available that protects this area of carpet. It seems odd to me that anyone would abraid against this area during entrance or egress, which is probably why no one makes anything to protect it.

Wondering what method OP uses to get and out of his car...

They are called Honda Premium S2000 carpet mats or Honda Access S2000 floor mats, they are only available in the UK, for LHD S2000s. I have these for sale, check the link in my signature for details.

 

Rick's Accessories made a great set of floor mats that look great and are very durable. They cover everything and have hooks underneath on the driver's side to prevent scooting up. Unfortunately Rick's went out of business last year, so the best you can get is possibly a used set. I've had mine for 16 years and over 400,000 miles, and although they're showing wear they've held up well.

Everyone seems to know about getting them solely from the UK Hendye dealer/shop page but I got extremely lucky by getting a set through my local Honda dealer! I just gave my parts friend the 08-S2A red mats number and he found them at the local warehouse. I did not have to wait long nor did I have to pay customs and shipping! I am in South Africa though so that probably doesn't help you much...

I actually sold my black premium mat set to a fellow S2000 owner who didn't have any mats for his newly acquired Silverstone AP2 so in terms of cost for the new set, I paid very little
