Default Turkey Day

It's that time again for food and friends and family, or whatever your tradition is. So what's on the agenda for y'all? We will be at my nephew's that day. Instead of turkey I'm making a couple of pork loins with different sauces (one herbs and the other lemon garlic). There will be a roast chicken for the girls in case they don't like the pork. Then the sides (salad, roast veggies, stuffing, etc). And a pumpkin pie. The +1 has to have a pumpkin pie. And some kind of alcohol. I plan to get a bottle of prosecco spumante. I was on a pinot grigio kick for a long time, but prosecco has taken over.

The +1 will be running the Alexandria Turkey Trot that morning, maybe with the nephew.

We are cooking and will hope to escape salmonella. Our son and his family and my sister and her husband will join us. We are pretty low key with this and quite traditional with the meal. So much work for 15 minutes of eating....At least we no longer have to prepare chicken nuggets for the grandson. He graduated to eating turkey last year. He's still a picky eater but improving.

The female parental unit and I are going to the neighbors. The usual roast turkey, mashed potatoes, some veggies, rolls, etc.

We will be bringing smoked salmon, crackers, various cheeses/meats etc for the appetizers.

Also we will be bringing the beer wine etc.

My sister-in-law recently purchased an historic mansion with plans for a bed and breakfast/wedding venue. Family Thanksgiving will be held in style this year.
