If a $40,000,000 737 burns kerosene, then it's fine for my S2000 as well. I only fuel up with JetA!
Wow! you are a genius! That is exactly what I meant!
Go get yourself some milks and cookies!

Apples and Oranges my friend.

Now for the record, I believe Castrol Syntec is fine motor oil as well.

I never liked Mobil 1 Synthetic when i had it in my car...my switch to Catrol Syntec was much better.
I won't use Mobil 1 because they are the official oil supplier of Nascar. And I HATE Nascrap.

I don't think pure oil specs can tell the whole story with synthetics. I am not a tribologist but I do believe viscosity when heated up has a lot to do with it. From UOA (used oil analysis) the visc number at 100Celcius is thinner for Mobil 1 compared to others. This would mean that Mobil 1 is on the thinner side of the 10W30 spectrum.

With that being said, the tolerances of the F20C is pretty tight and hence this visc number would come into play.

RR, correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't a higher visc # protect better with a better anti-wear additive package when you compare Mobil 1 to Syntec? Pour temps and some of the other specs do not really come into play. Just with my ears and butt, I definately think Syntec is a better working oil in the F20C. Also I think the butt feel is valid since real race car drivers are also the ones that can feel what the car is doing rather than what the computer or telemetry is saying.

I've used Amsoil 10W30 early in my S's life and can't really remember so I can't comment on that. Also I haven't used Redline, or any other synthetics so I can't compare those either.

A few weeks ago, there was a post about Honda of Japan recommended 5W40 for S2000, and 5W40 is only available in synthetic formular only. If you want to use conventional oil, then 10W30 Havoline GF4 is probably the best as of now, if you like longer oil change interval, then synthetic 5W40 is the oil you need.

The advantage of Mobil1 is, it can be found at any autopart store, while Amsoil, Redline and other boutique oils are hard to find at your local stores and cost a lot more than Mobil1.

After reading the oil journals on this site, It seems as though the Amsoil oil (synthetic) is better. Any thoughts on that?
Yes, its obvious that amsoil is the best oil tested. it can be found online, and there are distributors almost everywhere. and it costs more because its a better oil. and longer OCI are recommended, to offset the added cost.

For my Honda S2000... Amsoil Series 2000 0W-30 all the way. For my wife's 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring Model... Castrol Syntec 5W-30 and by the way I never like Mobil 1.
Why 0w-30

i used to run the german Castrol 0w-30 inmy JDm ITR powered GSR and have nothing but good things to say about it. Is it okay to run 0w-30 in the s2000 during summer and fall?

I use Mobil 1 in my S2000, the reason being is because Mobil makes the Honda oil, and factory Honda oil is a partial synthetic. I don't recommend Castrol Syntec because after talking to my companies Penzoil rep who is also the Castrol rep. He told me that Penzoil makes Castrol. He also said that Castrol isn't a full synthetic oil. He said that they change a couple of the molicuels in the oil to perform better than the conventional oil. That is it. That is why Castrol claims to be the top performing oil in its class, because it isn't competing against a synthetic oil. He even told me that if it were to go up against Mobil 1 it would lose. That is out of a Reps mouth. So, if it works for you great, but I just wanted to warn you all that it is maid by Penzoil and it isn't a full synthetic oil.
