Catch Can, Dual Catch Can

Catch Can, Dual Catch Can
I have not done any engine modifications to my S, except install a quick release oil drain valve. I'm intrigued by the postings from Radium Engineering about installing a catch can, or a dual catch can system. Will such a system actually help extend the life of my S's engine? Will it be of value with limited track time each year to one or two weekends and maybe an autocross day or two? I do like to drive into Vtech and rev to 9,000 from time to time. Most of my driving is in-town on streets and freeways. If a catch can system is beneficial, how many S owners have installed them? What are your thoughts on the Radium Engineering set up? Options include a plug for drainage or petcock valves. What would you drain them into so as to not spill inside the engine compartment?

For that level of tracking a catch can is not really necessary.
It is useful for when you would otherwise be pushing a lot through your PCV, but with only a few track days a year it will be more novelty than actual help.
That said, I have a basic ebay catch can and it is great as I track at least monthly and oftentimes more, with 4-5 annual autox thrown in.

It won't extend the life of your engine, it might be a bit less susceptible to detonation but that isn't really an issue with stock engine setups.

It helps to keep your intake manifold and related parts cleaner over time, with less oil being ingested into the cylinders which might justify it's purchase ?. They are worth having, it just depends on what you want to achieve.

I wouldn't do that radium one. They must be smoking crack charging ~$500 for a catch can. I use this one: http://www.saikoumichi.com/Stage0_S2000.htm
If you ever plan to run a smaller battery he can make the can a little shorter too to fit since it attaches where the battery tie down goes.
like the above said, it's not needed. It helps if you track the car and have smoke blowing out the back from the oil. In reality you only need to worry about the rear line that has the pcv on it. my front can has never had any oil in it. Just the rear.

Even if you only 2-3 track days a year it depends on you and your car. I track about the same amount as you but I have blow by issues during long high g sweepers.

I have purchased the saiko but have not had a chance to test it yet.
