CEL code p0171
Hello,
I have a check engine light come on in the past week. Car is running funny at idle and especially between 5-6k RPM.
I have pulled two codes on the scanner.
Both are p0171 system too lean bank1 !!!
The car is under warranty. However, I have a test pipe with the O2 bung. I've had the test pipe for almost two years without any issues. I don't think the test pipe is the culprit.
If I take it to the dealer, will they refuse to fix my car under warranty because of the test pipe? Should I put the cat back on and then take it in?
your advice is appreciated.
Alex

Put the car back to stock since re-installing the cat takes only 20min at most. That will ensure you don't run into a problem with the dealer over it.
As for the CEL...I know this was a common one for SC cars, but if yours is not SC, then the dealer will be the best place to go. Could be many things, but somehow the amount of fuel getting into the engine is too low. Could be a pinched fuel line or clogged injectors.
