A really long extension and a swiveling 17mm socket. Works every time.

I also suggest installing the bolt you didn't put back in. It's not impossible. Honda put the bolt in the hole, and for a good reason too.

I dropped the engine cradle a few inches at the back and used a series of extensions adding up to about a metre. I needed this conflabulation for both of the top tranny bolts and the top starter motor bolt. I used electrical tape on the joints to ensure they were flexible but didn't come apart when retrieving them.

Two extensions, one swival, and a flex socket gets it without too much trouble. The way to get it back is to preposition it before you put the tranny back on.

Couldn't say, I took the whole engine out in the process.

Forever! But then I wasn't in a rush.

I started one weekend and finished the next with a bit of work in between. Most of the work was just sussing things out.

It is not the easiest clutch. I always leave a couple of days to do one and the last one probably took me over 12 hours no rushing with hand tools. I expect now that I have some experience and air tools I should get one done in less than ten hours.

Long handle 1/2" ratchet, 3 foot 1/2" drive extension, and 17mm impact swivel. Should take you all of about 2 minutes tops to remove all the upper tranny bolts, once the engine/trans is lowered...

um guys, the S2000 uses the same alignment tool all other honda's use. You could go to autozone and ask for the clutch alignment tool for a 5sp accord and it would work just fine. But the honda dealer should be able to order you the real honda one (if they won't they are lazy). The Honda one is part numbers 07936-3710100 and 07LAF-PT00110 (you will need both) and you will need the flywheel holder, 07LAB-PV00100 or 07924-PD20003

WOW got ther tranny out in about 4 hours last night. I found a clutch tool at my brother-inlaw's trans shop. The splines fit perfect but it was a little to small where it goes into the piolet bearing. I just have to put electric tape around thhe end 1 time to get a perfect fit. When I get to the shop today I will find out exactaly what tool it is that I am using so if others have this problem then can just pick this one up.

Can anyone tell me why the honda book tells you to take out the alternator and A/C pump?????? It just seems that you dont have to do this with the right tools. I took it out anyway. Just wondering for the next time.
