I doubt that the CEL is caused by the over rev .... i in my case did a couple of over revs during my driving where accidently switching to lower gears and hitting the rev limiter. That did not kick a CEL. i run my S2K with a CEL for over 2 months now and i checked my code to find it was P1414 02S HEATER CIRCUIT (B1/S2) ..... i was told that it doesn't do any harm to my car and to replace the sensor will cost over $200 ... so i chose not to only harm i will not know if there is another problem with my car because my CEL is already on.

Point of my story there is no use assuming and no one will know y the CEL kicked in, u need to get the code.

As far as my gas cap goes there must be a problem with it then because no matter how many clicks I tighten it I find it one quick twist away from opening the next time I go to fill up.
Tighten it from the outside edge and not the raised "spine".

You're all right, I'll just get the codes because guessing doesn't make any sense.

As far as over-revving I did start at 6000rpm in 2nd gear and shift at 9000rpm to 3rd so if you can't over-rev that way then I did not over rev.

I drove the car around for a few days with the CEL on and now it's gone. Just turned off. Maybe it was the gas cap but pulling the fuse wasn't enough to clear it?

No, pulling the fuse clears the codes immediately.
Still guessing? Should have pulled the codes. Now, you may never know what was wrong. Next the CEL comes on, PULL THE CODES AND STOP GUESSING!

I'd pull the codes now anyway. They will be in code history for a short while, even though the light is off.

This is why I have the RacerData thing. It pulls codes and lets you clear them. If you don't know what the code is you shouldn't be driving all over the place with it on as you don't know if your causing more damage.

It amazes me that people have a cel light on and drive around without knowing what the problem is. You can go to Autozone and they'll pull codes for you if you don't want to buy a scanner or some sort.
